BS Media and Communication Studies is a 4 year degree program which aims at developing knowledge in journalism, media production, advertisement as well as PR in the students. The syllabus is organized in such a way that it is balanced with theories and practical training to equip the students in dynamic positions in the media industry.
Under core courses, there are normally Mass Communication Theories, Media Ethics, Communication Skills, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising and Digital Media Production. These topics are the basis of the degree and assist one to learn how media influences society.
The students may also take specialized electives later in their semesters especially the Development Communication, Film Studies, Broadcast Journalism and Media Research. These courses enable the students to specialize in their area of interest in media and communication.
Workshops, internships and final year projects are also usually present in the syllabus. Students can also prepare documentaries, research reports, and media campaigns and have a practical experience with the modern media tools and technologies.
The curriculum is being constantly revised to suit the shifting trends in media industry. It assists the students in becoming creative thinkers, researchers and ethical professionals required to have a successful career in journalism, PR and digital media.
