The merit list 2025 of the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) is very important in the selection of students in the top architecture universities in Pakistan. Such merit lists are released by both the public and the private universities once entry tests, interviews, and document checks have been conducted. They also ensure that the process of admission is transparent as they rank the applicants based on their performance in school, their test scores among other elements of selection. To students who want to enter the competitive world of architecture, the knowledge of how the merit list is formed and when it is announced is crucial to organize the future and timely complete the paperwork.

A majority of the universities use a weighted formula to compile the merit list. Academic performance at intermediate (FSc Pre-Engineering, A-Levels, or equivalent) is of great importance typically ranging between 60%-70%. The other percentage is due to university entry test or aptitude test which measures mathematics, analytical skills and drawing skills. In others, an interview or a review of a portfolio in specific situations add to the ultimate merit mark, particularly in design-oriented schools. The formula used can be different in each university just a little bit so that the applicants should always look through the admission prospectus of the different universities to know how their ultimate position in the merit system would be excluded.
The universities that are popular in terms of low tuition fees and good reputation include NED University of Engineering and Technology, UET Lahore, UET Peshawar, and Mehran University, which are highly competitive. These colleges release various merit lists - normally the first, second and third lists, depending on the seat capacity and acceptability of the candidates. Those that are included in the first merit list are given a time limit within which they are supposed to remit their admission fee and secure their seat. Otherwise, they are deprived of the seat, and it is assigned to the next student on the waiting list. In the case of public sector universities, separate lists of quotas like provincial domicile seats, reserved seats, and self-finance are given as well.
The process of admission in indus valley school of art and architecture, COMSATS University, Iqra University and Superior University is slightly different in private universities. Although they still issue merit lists, the percentages used are usually slightly lower than those of the public universities because there are more seats available and more admission periods. Interviews can also be conducted or a portfolio review before admission is granted by the private universities. As they typically provide rolling admissions, students that fail to be on the first merit list of a public university usually find themselves a place in a private school by applying in the early stage.
Merit lists are usually published a couple of weeks after the entrance-tests. In 2025 entry test, the majority of universities will release most of their merit lists in August to September with the rest released within a week two following the first. At this stage, students should keep official university sites and portals of admission under constant surveillance to avoid delays in payment of fees as well as submission of documents. Failure to meet these deadlines may lead to cancellation of admission and that is the reason why timely following up is required.
