PEC Helps Thousands of Fresh Graduates Get Jobs At 60+ Companies in Pakistan

In a landmark move to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has successfully placed thousands of fresh engineering graduates into top-tier organizations. The second batch of the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program has officially commenced, marking a major milestone for youth employment in the country.

Over 1,300 Engineers Begin Their Professional Journey

More than 1,300 fresh engineering graduates have formally joined the second batch of the PEC’s flagship GET Placement Program. This initiative is rapidly becoming a beacon of hope for unemployed engineers across the nation.

In total, 1,700 graduates were selected through a fully transparent digital balloting process conducted at the end of March. The remaining selected candidates will be placed in subsequent phases after completing their reporting formalities, ensuring no seat goes unfilled.

A Transparent and Merit-Based Digital Selection

One of the standout features of the PEC program is its commitment to fairness. Unlike traditional hiring processes that often face criticism for opacity, the GET program utilized a digital balloting system to ensure merit and transparency.

Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir expressed satisfaction over the rollout, emphasizing that the merit-based digital process eliminated human interference. “By placing young engineers in real working environments, we are helping them develop both technical expertise and interpersonal skills,” he stated.

Placements Across 60+ Public and Private Sector Companies

Selected graduates have been welcomed by senior officials in their respective organizations and have begun orientation sessions and onboarding procedures. Their placements span multiple departments across more than 60 public and private sector organizations, providing exposure to diverse industries and real-world engineering challenges.

Participating organizations include:

  • Federal and provincial departments

  • Entities from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir

  • Leading public sector corporations

  • Top private sector employers

These organizations have committed to providing hands-on experience through practical projects and field-based training.

Special Quota for Balochistan Ensures National Inclusion

In a significant step toward regional equity, 300 seats were exclusively reserved for engineering graduates from Balochistan. All of these seats have now been successfully filled, enabling strong representation from the province in the program. This move aligns with PEC’s vision to uplift underserved regions and ensure that talented engineers from all corners of Pakistan have equal opportunities.

Structured Six-Month Training with PKR 50,000 Stipend

The GET Program is not just a job placement it is a comprehensive professional development experience. The structure includes:

  • Five months of field experience in real-world engineering environments

  • One month of dedicated skill development focusing on soft skills and professional competence

  • A monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 for every participant

  • QR-verified completion certificate upon successful graduation from the program

This stipend allows fresh graduates to support themselves during training, eliminating the financial barrier that often prevents talented individuals from pursuing internships.

Fully Funded by PEC for National Development

The entire initiative is fully funded by the Pakistan Engineering Council, with no cost passed on to the trainees or host organizations. By investing directly in human capital, PEC is empowering young engineers, strengthening the national engineering workforce, and contributing to Pakistan’s long-term development goals.

Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir noted that the program is designed not only to provide technical exposure but also to strengthen soft skills and professional competence two areas where fresh graduates often lag behind industry expectations.

How Fresh Graduates Can Apply for Future Batches

While the second batch is already underway, engineering graduates eager to join future cohorts should regularly monitor the official PEC website and their registered email addresses. The digital balloting process requires candidates to be registered with PEC as fresh graduates. Key steps include:

  1. Completing PEC registration after degree completion

  2. Ensuring updated contact information in PEC records

  3. Responding promptly to balloting announcements

  4. Completing reporting formalities if selected

A Model for Youth Employment in Pakistan

The GET Placement Program serves as a replicable model for other professional councils in Pakistan. By successfully placing thousands of engineers across 60+ companies, PEC has demonstrated that structured, transparent, and well-funded programs can solve the chronic problem of graduate unemployment.

As the remaining selected candidates join through subsequent balloting phases, the total impact of the program will continue to grow. For Pakistan’s engineering sector, this initiative is not just about jobs it is about building a competent, confident, and industry-ready workforce for the future.
