What is Laureate Hospitality Education?

Laureate Hospitality Education (LHE), a member of the Laureate International Universities network, is a leading hospitality management education group providing hospitality, tourism, event, sports, and entertainment management education to students from more than 100 countries. How does it transform the students?

First of all, each school from the first moment they arrive, they will meet and then live and share experiences with students from different background, culture, education and religion. This melting pot will help them understand other, become tolerant and open minded and this will tremendously help them in their future international career.

The second point is that students will learn by doing. This will help them better understand the principles and interweaving of the business as well as prepare them for internships.

Now that we have seen how the practical aspect helps students progress and are transformed, let’s look at the class-based learning process. We call it progressive because at the beginning of their studies, students will be assisted, they will study in a structured and supportive learning environment. As they progress, they slowly take ownership of their studies and move into a university structure where they will have to manage their time, project and learn more by themselves. This is important as this process helps them develop their business skills.

Another aspect which is very important from an industry stand point and which is typical of our industry is acquiring what we call soft or life skills. That means that students will acquire soft skills that are important to the industry such as professional appearance and attitude, respect of others, being customer oriented, motivated, team oriented, flexible. These skills are acquired through all the previous points mentioned.

Finally by the time they graduate, students are fully ready to start their career. They know how to prepare and present a CV, they know about interview techniques, they practice it and do role play, they will attend international company presentation and have the opportunity to be interviewed in order to get a job.
