"When Danger Strikes Don’t Panic, But Think wisely and Act bravely"

Leadership is a trust (amanath) the occupation of the leader is to discharge this responsibility to the best of his talent. Good leaders are essential in each and every one fields of life. It is a process by which one person influences the thoughts and behaviors of others. Leadership can be used for good or ill. They guide, encourage and move others. High-quality leaders flourish on the force of stressful situations not the unconstructiveness. They presume be in command of even when they don’t have it thus eradicate the anxiety of not having power. Without good leadership peoples quickly degenerates into argument and conflict, because we see things in different ways and lean toward different solutions. But it’s possible when true, honest and competent leadership guide the nation. Because good leaders energizing peoples toward a goal. He helps to point the nation in the same direction and harness our efforts jointly. Good leaders have a self-esteem and self-confidence to ride out of any harsh circumstances. Courage and bravery very imperative for everybody are crucial characteristic for a leader. Its good example is our beloved Prophet’s life, Muslims faced much larger armies but following the personal example of bravery, courage and wisdom of the Prophet. Today our leaders have demonstrated similar courage against great odds or not? Another great quality is justice and compassion, equally two crucial characteristics a leader desires to maintain a suspicious balance. Without justice a leader can not maintain balance in society. Unjust invariably leads to turmoil and conflict. The good leadership has sense sufficient to pick good men to do what he needs made, and self-restraint to keep from interfering with them while they do it. Superior leadership should most generous and just among the people and the bravest. He never afraid of anything in the world nor lured by any lust or temptation. Good leadership should most modest of his person, the most sincere, and the most pious. He never spoke just to spend time. He preferred silence to speech and never showed pride, although he was the most eloquent speaker. Superior leadership truly is a magnificent nature. He is supposed to the kindest and most compassionate.

Political Leaders

Let us go round the politicians of Pakistan and seek out these good qualities. Political leaders have not measured up to these good qualities, like, truth, honesty, courage, patience, sincerity, confidence, positively, integrity, wisdom and judgment. These qualities are enables them that they fulfill its mission. A very useful way to explore this crucial aspect of good politicians is with respect to wider relationships and systems. Today our political leaders’ actions have often reflected a commitment for personal gains rather than promoting the political and economic development of the country. Many lawmakers are those who got relief under the infamous National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) as well as many having fake educational degrees. In exercise of their duties, they have failed to set good examples of justice, positively, honesty and truthfulness. Majority of our politicians / Ministers have acted outside this norm, and consequently allowed their actions to impact negatively on public good. In this manner some of them have misrepresented state resources for development that do not profit the public but to keep happy the whims and caprices of a small amount of individuals. Decision – making is no longer administrating by objectivity, transparency and answerability.

Teachers as leadership

Now we turn the educational institutions and especially evaluate the role of the teachers as leadership. Teaching profession is one of the most valued occupations in the society. It is a great field which necessitates dedication. It should not be just treated as a way of making money. They have lots of responsibilities. Teachers / Professors and scholars should remember one thing that students tend to pick role models from their teachers, and a student is a mirror which reflects the learning and knowledge of a teacher. Teachers’ role as leadership in his positive and constructive education communication, they should easily use different approaches in dealing with different circumstances in educational institutions at each level. Education and training are not simply the matter of correcting mistakes; they also involve teaching and showing the basic principles of the rules and the regulations and using various methods to establish these concepts confidently in people’s minds and hearts, by examples, by exhorting them by telling stories at school level or by discussing true historical incidents at high level. Historical events like, Karbala event and great sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S), when Muslims were besieged in Sha’b abi Talib, and we see from the lives of Prophet Hazrat Ayub, (A.S) and Hazrat Yusuf (A.S) that they endured their trials and tribulations with great patience. Because leadership is the ability of a single individual through his action to motivate others to higher levels of achievement. Teacher’s leadership should be able to express his positive vision clearly and in a compelling manner so that other students are engaged by this good leadership. Therefore it is significant that we countenance this life and the difficulties that arise with a positive attitude and with good will and passion. In Educational institutions role of teachers, professors and scholars is very crucial, that they should teach moral and ethical values, and they be obliged to use history and literature to teach uncontroversial moral principles such as honesty, integrity and sacrifice. Because our students / youth are tomorrows future and teachers has a great responsibility in their character formation.

“A good character and positive thinking teacher can be rightly called a nation builder. Knowledge received without good teacher guidance can be compared to a blind man walking without his stick.”

A good and popular teacher/professor becomes a model for his students at each level. Teachers /Professors and scholars therefore have to play a key in the building up of the character of the next generation.

Here I coated Abrahim Lincoln Quote,

“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.”

Every picture has two sides as we all know that all teachers are not good and have positive think. Therefore, a corrupt and immoral class of teachers can harm a nation more seriously than a class of corrupt and perverted judiciary, bureaucracy, army and politicians. A corrupt and incompetent teacher is not great risk only a bad individual, but also the herald of a corrupt and incompetent generation. Because only if a person has an inner ethical compass can he is sure that leadership qualities will not turn to evil ends.

Conclusion

Problems are there in every field of life and each level, and they will remain at hand and will never go away. We will face many problems in different fields of life, like in political development, judiciary, and education etc. We all can not solve all kinds of problems and we can not change others. But we all can one thing easily that we can control and change is our behavior in positive direction. We will solve one problem and another one will arise, then another and another. This is a cycle that will continue throughout our lives until we live. Let us try to wear ethical and moral values with positive education and positive thinking. Especially teachers/professors/scholars should play their role positively and constructively. Keep a positive behavior on life, work hard towards goals and keep the positive attitude with courage and patience going under all circumstances. Rapidly we all will reach our purpose and achieve our desired goals and the world will be a much superior position. In sum as William A. Ward said, discouragement is dissatisfaction with the past, distaste for the present, and distrust of the future. It is ingratitude for the blessings of yesterday, indifference to the opportunities of today, and insecurity regarding strength for tomorrow. No one is perfect and it is only by learning from mistakes of the past and questioning received wisdom that change is possible.
