Study and Living Cost in Spain

The decision to study abroad opens a new phase of your life, taking you into a ride that will be cherished all your life. Getting to know a new and different culture, embracing similarities and differences, learning the art of settling in a new environment and meeting people from all over the world is all what is in store during your stay in Spain. It is one of the favorite most visited places in the world because of its rich culture. The climate is favorable for Pakistani students as well because we are accustomed to hot and dry summer and rains.

Study Cost in Spain

The cost of study in Spain is cheapest amongst all European countries. Spanish government has eased the fee packages for every course or program to the maximum point for its foreign students in all their public universities. The tuition fee packages for EU students and non-EU students are the same.

Tuition Fees in Public Universities

Bachelors Degree:-The fees are around 2,200 EU/per annum.

Masters and PhD Degree: The fees are around 3,300 EU/per annum.

Tuition Fees in Private Universities

Private universities are rather expensive than public universities and their packages depend upon the city and programme you want to enroll in. Business degree fees are expensive of all courses. But usually the average fees for all courses are not more than $18,000 EU to 20, 000/EU per year.

EC (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

The ECT system can be defined as a credit system in which the work load and ability of a student in a certain programme or course is counted in form of credits. Further the earned ECT credits on the basis of learning achievements and workload can be added into student’s degree for giving it to other universities and other countries. It is divided into two parts:

First Cycle: It is for Bachelor’s degree and it is consisted of 180 to 240 credits

Second Cycle: It is for Master’s degree or equivalent and it is consisted of 90 to 120 credits.

Third Cycle: The number of credits for PhD might differ in various universities.

The ECT system also helps students to merge different types of learning techniques such as theoretical and practical under same programmes for extended benefits.

Average Cost of Living in Spain

Spain is a student friendly country. The minimum wage is 858.88Eu/per month. In 2024 the Spanish government increased minimum wage up to 4%.Spain ranks in 8Th number in terms of minimum wage in all European countries. Daily minimum wage for part time workers is around 25 EU. Costs of living vary according the location you choose to live. Generally an average rate for student residence is 360Eu to 650 EU/ per month. Renting apartment will be more expensive ranging from 450 to 750 EU/per month. Whereas homestay with meals included will cost you 700 to 80oEu/per month. Madrid and Barcelona are the most expensive cities of Spain, the cost of living will be slightly more there than other cities.
