The wait is finally over! You can now apply for the MEXT Japan Government Scholarships 2026 (Embassy Track). This scholarship is available for people from countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan.

The Japanese Government and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) provide fully funded scholarships for international students wanting to study for undergraduate, Master's, or PhD degrees in Japan. Eligibility Criteria

  • You need to be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic ties with Japan.
  • Japanese nationals can’t apply for the MEXT scholarship in Japan.
  • For undergraduate programs, you should be under 25 and have completed 12 years of schooling that’s similar to high school.
  • If you’re going for a Master’s or PhD, you must have completed your college degree and be under 35. You should also have 16 or 18 years of education.
  • If you're in a teacher training program, you must be a recent grad from college or a teacher training school and be under 35. You should have some teaching experience in primary, secondary, or teacher-training schools in your home country.
