What is the International Student Retention Scholarship?

The International Student Retention Scholarship helps out students from other countries who are currently enrolled at Portland State University by offering them some financial assistance with their tuition fees. It's designed to help students continue their studies and do well academically, especially when they're dealing with financial challenges.

Key Benefits

  • You can get up to $1,500 each term or the complete tuition cost, whichever is lower.
  • This can be received for up to six terms in a row, not counting summer.
  • It’s available for undergrads and grad students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • If you're an undergraduate, you should be in your sophomore year and have finished at least 3 terms at PSU, with a minimum GPA of 2.75.
  • For undergraduate transfer students, you also need to be in your sophomore year but only need to have completed 1 term at PSU, again with a 2.75 GPA.
  • If you're a post-bacc or graduate student, you'll just need to have finished at least 1 term at PSU and keep a GPA of 3.00.
  • You can apply if you're also studying at another USCIS-approved institute, but if you're only taking ESL classes, you can't apply.
