About the Fellowship

The British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships support early-career scholars shortly after they finish their PhDs. The fellowship gives funding for up to three years for great research projects in the humanities or social sciences. It also helps fellows grow their careers through mentoring and involvement in their Host University or institution.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should meet these criteria:

• Applicants should have received a PhD between April 1, 2023, and April 1, 2026 (no more than three years from the award date).
• Not hold a permanent academic job.
• Be a UK or EEA national, hold a UK PhD, or have a strong tie to a UK institution.
• Apply with the backing of a UK University or research organization that will serve as the host institution.
• Submit only one application unless invited to do so again.
