PTE Test Format

PTE Academic is an exam you take on a computer in a safe and welcoming test center. It checks your speaking, writing, reading, and listening abilities. The PTE Academic test has three main parts:

Part 1: Speaking & Writing

  • Takes around 54 to 67 minutes

Part 2: Reading

  • Takes approximately 29 to 30 minutes
  • Contains five different types of questions (including MCQs & fill in the blanks)

Part 3: Listening

  • Tests listening skills using audio and video clips

PTE Test Centers in Pakistan

PTE test centers serve as authorized venues where individuals can take the Pearson Test of English (PTE) exam. These centers are equipped with the necessary facilities and resources to conduct the test in a secure and controlled environment. Students search the names of PTE academic test centers in Pakistan from Pearson’s official website. In Pakistan, there are only two PTE test centers: one is in Islamabad and one in Karachi.

How to Book PTE?

Following is the method through which candidates can book PTE test in Pakistan:

  • Write ‘Pakistan’ in the search by country space and press the ‘Search’ button.
  • Find a test center nearby and choose your appointment.
  • Pick the date and time for your exam by creating or logging into your myPTE account.
  • Fill out your profile details and review the ID policy for required identification on test day.
  • Check your appointment details and confirm your booking by paying the PTE test fees online.
  • A summary of your appointment will show on your myPTE dashboard, and you'll receive an email notification too.

PTE Test Results

All the questions in PTE Academic will be scored by a computer. This ensures that each test is graded accurately, fairly, and consistently. Test takers receive scores ranging from 10 to 90 which will reflect their English skill level. PTE test result is typically available within 48 hours along with a detail report. Your PTE test result report will have two important parts:

  • Overall score: Your main PTE Academic score, graded from 10 to 90.
  • Communicative Skills: These scores indicate how well you did in speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Each skill is also rated from 10 to 90.

You'll also get a Skills Profile showing how you did in your test categories like 'Short Writing' and 'Multiple-skills comprehension'. Each category has a progress bar to display your performance. Additionally, it offers personalized tips to help improve your English skills and focus on areas where you might need to work on for a better score.

What Score Do You Need?

Different international institutions set their score requirements. But in general, you'll need the following scores:

  • For foundation courses: A score between 36 and 50.
  • For undergraduate degrees: A score between 51 and 60.
  • For postgraduate degrees: A score between 57 and 67.

PTE Test Tips

Here are some tips to attempt your PTE test:

  • On test day, stay composed and confident. Read the instructions carefully and manage your time effectively.
  • Quickly go through the text to understand the main idea.
  • Use the context to predict or understand the meaning of unfamiliar words.
  • Pay attention to headings, subheadings, and topic sentences.

  • Focus on accuracy in grammar, spelling, and vocabulary usage.
  • Concentrate on the audio by focusing on the main ideas and key details.
  • Make brief notes of essential points or keywords while listening.
  • Familiarize yourself with various English accents to understand different speakers.
  • Focus on fluency and coherence in your speaking. Don’t worry too much about using complex vocabulary.
  • Speak at a moderate pace, clearly pronouncing words, and pausing at appropriate points.
  • Manage your time efficiently for each speaking task.
