We are currently hiring for the following position on a contractual basis:

Position Title: General Manager, Infrastructure & Planning

Number of Openings: 1
Location: Karachi
Contract Type: Project-based (contractual)

About the Role:

The General Manager, Infrastructure & Planning will be responsible for leading and managing TransKarachi's units handling:

  • Civil works implementation

  • Environmental and social safeguards

  • Asset management

  • Infrastructure planning

The selected candidate will oversee construction activities along Karachi’s bus corridors, with a strong focus on construction quality, long-term durability, and maintenance. This leadership role ensures compliance with occupational health and safety standards and embeds global best practices in infrastructure design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of infrastructure development activities in line with project timelines and quality standards.

  • Ensure safety compliance across all work sites by enforcing occupational health and safety safeguards.

  • Supervise contractor performance and manage key relationships to maintain construction quality and durability.

  • Direct and evaluate a multidisciplinary team to achieve alignment with project goals.

  • Monitor built infrastructure for ongoing maintenance and implement timely modifications.

  • Promote international best practices in infrastructure design, planning, and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline from an HEC-accredited university.

  • Degrees from renowned foreign universities are an added advantage.

  • Training or education in FIDIC contract administration is highly preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 15 years of professional experience, including:

    • 5 years in a senior management role (e.g., Director, General Manager).

    • 5 years’ experience in implementing large urban infrastructure projects, particularly road-based infrastructure.

  • Prior experience with international financing institutions is highly desirable.
