Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA):
The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) were established in 1999. The rules and regulations of the department are regulated under the prescription provided by Government of Punjab. It was established to promote technical and vocational education in Punjab. Several institutions are built under TEVTA. TEVTA has responsibilities such as: To promote and provide demand driven technical education & vocational training, to re-engineer and consolidate the existing technical education and vocational training system under one management structure, to develop a dynamic technical and vocational training system to ensure horizontal and vertical mobility, to regulate and develop standards of technical education and vocational training including internationally recognized curriculum, examination and certification system, to upgrade teaching abilities, skills and knowledge of teaching staff, to upgrade teaching equipment to the required standards and to build and maintain collaboration with various sectors of economy namely Agriculture, industry, Services and Commerce.
Mainly it was established to provide technical education to youth of Pakistan that they can utilize in development of the country and also gain employment. The programmes offered by TEVTA affiliated institutions are Vocational Diploma, Diploma G-II (2 years), Diploma G-III (1 year), B.Sc Technology, Diploma of Associate Engineering (D.A.E) and Diploma (1 Year) of technical education. The efforts made by TEVTA have been effective in equipping youth with skills and attaining employment.
