Advertisement for the Position of Sign Language Interpreter

The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible legislative environment. Applications are invited from qualified professionals for the contractual/daily wages position of Sign Language Interpreter, responsible for providing real-time interpretation of House proceedings for persons with hearing impairments.

Position Details

  • Position Title: Sign Language Interpreter

  • Location: Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Lahore

  • Remuneration: Rs. 15,000 per day (subject to applicable tax deductions)

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

a) Provide accurate, real-time interpretation of Assembly proceedings in Pakistan Sign Language (PSL).
b) Coordinate with media and IT teams to ensure smooth live broadcast support.
c) Maintain neutrality, confidentiality, and adhere to professional standards at all times.
d) Support other accessibility-related initiatives as and when required.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (16 years of education) from a recognized institution. (Preference will be given to degrees in Special Education, Linguistics, or related fields.)

  • Certification: Valid Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) interpretation certification from a recognized institute.

  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in sign language interpretation.

  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Preference: Familiarity with parliamentary procedures or other formal institutional environments is an advantage.
