The National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) invites applications from qualified and motivated candidates for contract-based positions at its Islamabad and Karachi campuses. The positions will support research projects related to:

  • Blue Economy

  • Maritime Trade & Transport

  • Maritime Industry & Technology

  • Geo-Strategy

The initial contract period is one (01) year, including a one-month probation, with the possibility of extension based on performance.

Available Positions:

1. Research Associate

Educational Qualification:

  • M.Phil or MS in a relevant field such as:

    • Maritime Ports & Shipping Management

    • Maritime Trade & Logistics

    • Defence & Strategic Studies

  • Degree must be from an HEC-recognized university.

Experience & Skills:

  • Preferably 2 years of experience in a maritime think tank, or 3 years in a reputable research organization.

  • Minimum of 3 publications in national or international research journals recognized by HEC.

  • Op-Ed publications are a plus.

  • Strong skills in research design, analysis, and academic writing.

  • Ability to support research projects, coordinate with teams, and disseminate findings.

2. Research Assistant

Educational Qualification:

  • BS degree in relevant fields such as:

    • Maritime Business & Management

    • Coastal & Marine Sciences

    • International Relations

  • Candidates may be enrolled in an evening/weekend MS/MPhil programme.

Experience & Skills:

  • Fresh graduates can apply; research experience, internships, or projects preferred.

  • Good research aptitude, academic reading, and writing skills.

  • Ability to assist senior researchers, conduct literature reviews, gather data, and prepare reports under supervision.

  3. Only short-listed candidates will be called for test/interview at NIMA, Bahria University, Islamabad & Karachi (as applicable).

  4. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the test/interview.
