Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Jobs Detail

Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is a leading Teaching Hospital of Federal Medical Teaching Institute (FMTI), and largest tertiary care hospital in Islamabad with 4,200 employees, 1,300 beds, and over 27 disciplines. To implement the vision of the Government to provide quality healthcare facility to the public, the Board of Governors FMTI invites applications for following positions in PIMS:

S.No. Post Qualification and Experience
1. Dean, Federal Medical Teaching Institute (FMTI) PIMS
  • Applicants should be accomplished scholars with medical or basic science qualifications (MBBS or equivalent plus a higher Diploma, such as a FCPS, FRCP, FRCS, or a US Board certification or equivalent, or a Ph.D. degree in a medical science discipline), with at least seven years administrative experience leading a department, unit, program, or institution, recognized leadership qualities, a track record in teaching, and a commitment to medical education and research.
  • The Dean heads the Medical College and is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching and research, and reports to the Board of Governors. He/she is responsible for all budgetary and financial matters relating to the medical school and its functions. The Dean of the Medical College shall act as Chief Executive Officer of Medical Teaching Institute. The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of five years.
  • The Dean FMTI will report to the Board of Governors
2. Dean School of Dentistry (SOD)
  • Applicants should be accomplished scholars with medical/dental or basic science qualifications (BDS or equivalent, plus a higher Diploma, such as a FCPS, FRCP, FRCS, or a US Board certification or equivalent, or a Ph.D. degree in a medical science discipline), with at least seven years administrative experience leading a department, unit, program, or institution, recognized leadership qualities, a track record in teaching, and a commitment to medical education and research.
  • The Dean heads the School of Dentistry and is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate medical/dental teaching and research, and reports to the Board of Governors. He/she is responsible for all budgetary and financial matters relating to the school of Dentistry and its functions. The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of five years.
  • The Dean SOD will report to the Board of Governors
3. Hospital Director
  • Masters' Degree in Hospital or Health Services Management, Business Management, Public Health or Public Administration, or any equivalent management qualification from a recognized institution is required. Medical Degree in addition to a Masters' Degree in management would be an advantage. A minimum experience of seven years at management-level positions in large healthcare organizations is preferred. The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of five years. The Hospital Director shall be responsible for:
  • all non-clinical functions of the hospital;
  • Preparation of the annual budget and business plan for presentation to the management committee and the Board;
  • maintenance of hospital infrastructure and engineering services;
  • maintenance and development of all ancillary services, including but not limited to, pharmacy, nursing, materials management, human resources, clerical, communications, and security services;
  • to act as the principal accounting officer responsible and accountable for maintaining financial discipline and transparency
  • The Hospital Director will report to the Board of Governors
4. Medical Director
  • Candidate shall have a Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent, plus a higher Diploma, such as a FCPS, FRCP, FRCS, or a US Board certification or equivalent, with a record of excellence in clinical care, and have at least three-year experience in leading a major hospital /clinical unit in any clinical discipline with main responsibilities prescribed as:
  • Ensuring clinical excellence in all aspects of hospital functions;
  • Auditing Clinical Practice;
  • Developing new clinical programs; and
  • Developing an annual clinical budget;
  • The Medical Director will report to the Board of Governors. The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of five years.
5. Nursing Director
  • Applicants must be qualified as a nurse (RN), with an advanced degree in Nursing (BSc-N), preferably MSc / MA Nursing with at least 7 years administrative and teaching experience, and current Nursing Registration. The Nursing Director shall be responsible for all nursing functions, including training of nurses, ensuring adequate nursing staffing for all clinical needs, maintaining the highest nursing standards, and performing regular audits of nursing functions.
  • The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of five years. The Nursing Director will report to the Board of Governors
6. Director Human Resources
  • Applicant should have Master/MBA or Equivalent Degree (Sixteen-years Education) in HRM/HRD from HEC recognized institution and ten-year post qualification experience in Human Resource Management. Applicants with a progressive HRM experience in a tertiary care hospital will be an advantage. The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of three years.
7. Director Information Technology
  • Master's degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or equivalent from a University recognized by the Higher Education Commission. OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/ BIT (4 years duration) or equivalent from a University recognized by the Higher Education Commission. 12 years experience in Programming/ IT Systems Analysis and Design and Preparation of IT Project Proposals relating to Hardware/ Software / Networking Specifications/ Project Management and implementation including at least 3 years experience of IT projects and Supervising Systems and Programming staff at a major Computer installation.
  • The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of three years.
8. Secretary ВOG
  • The Applicant shall be a qualified CA/ACMA/LLB/MBA Finance with at least 5 to 10 years experience of being Executive Director or Company Secretary/ Legal Advisor in a SECP registered company / Federal Govemment's Regulatory Authority. The appointment shall be purely on contract basis for a period of three years.
  • The Secretary BOG will report to the Board of Governors
 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Appointment shall be on contract basis through a transparent and merit-based selection process.
  • The maximum age limit is 65 years.
  • Decision of the Board of Governor FMTI shall be final. BOG has the right to reject or accept any application without assigning any reason. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
