Position Overview:

LESCO invites dynamic and qualified legal professionals to apply for the position of Chief Legal Officer. The role is a senior-level appointment, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage all legal and regulatory matters across LESCO.
Deliver sound legal advice and ensure inter-departmental legal coordination.
Formulate and lead LESCO’s corporate legal strategies.
Represent LESCO before regulatory bodies and courts.
Draft legal contracts, agreements, and official representations.
Supervise all litigation involving LESCO, including coordination with external legal counsel.
Provide written and oral legal opinions to the Board, CEO, and senior management.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Comprehensive knowledge of electricity distribution laws, regulations, and compliance.
Expertise in litigation, advocacy, arbitration, mediation, and contract negotiation.
Familiarity with the legal environment of Pakistan's power sector.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Strategic thinking with vision-setting capabilities for LESCO’s legal department.
Ability to manage legal risk, ensure accountability, and maintain integrity.

Eligibility Criteria:

Qualifications:

Mandatory: LLB from an HEC-recognized institution.
Preferred: LLM and/or Bar-at-Law (UK or equivalent).

Experience:

Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience in the legal profession.
Active license to practice in High Courts of Pakistan.
Demonstrated experience in corporate law, regulatory affairs, and litigation.
Experience in power sector-related matters at national/international levels.
Familiarity with government and regulatory authorities.

Additional Requirements:

Must meet the Fit & Proper Criteria under the State-Owned Enterprises Act, 2023.
Age limit: Not more than 57 years at the time of application.

Remuneration & Contract Details:

Salary: Market-competitive package to be determined by LESCO’s Board of Directors.
Contract Duration: Initial 3 years, extendable based on performance with annual evaluations based on KPIs.
