A student from Lahore has been found dead inside his hostel room at the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Islamabad.

Upon initial inquiry, police has declared this incident as a suicide case and said that the more investigations are in progress.

Muhammad Hassan, a 27-years-old student from Lahore, was enrolled in the Masters System Engineering Program in PIEAS, Islamabad on basis of fully funded scholarship since November 2016.

He lived alone in a hostel room allotted to him by varsity.

According to the investigation reports, the door of his room was locked since Friday night and no one left or entered the room.

On Monday, the aspirants from the nearby hostel rooms noticed a foul smell coming from the area of the room and instantly informed the management.

The management afterwards took action. They unlocked the door and discovered the dead body of Hassan.

The initial reports state that the body was found hanging from an iron roof that was fixed on the roof utilizing a rope.

It is also said that the dead body looked to be 2 or 3 days old.

Murder investigation officers are investigating the case and are trying to find out the reason behind apparent suicide of Hassan.
