The Punjab School Education Department has officially discounted a viral post that was doing the round on social media regarding cancellation of contracts of School Teaching Interns (STIs).
The message, that quickly circulated through the messaging services such as WhatsApp, reported that STI contracts had been terminated and that the interns would not have to report to schools anymore after the summer recession.
It also stated that the salaries would be paid on a week basis and the chances that they be reappointed in August or September.
Labeling the allegations as completely unfounded, the Education Department fired back with a direct response, tagging the statement as FAKE. The department cleared the air by stating that no such announcement has yet been made and nothing official on the termination of STI contracts has been made.
The authorities encouraged teachers, interns, and the rest of the population to follow only the absolutely verified updates that were provided through the official channels of the department.
