SSUET establishes career guidance centre for students

Karachi: Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has set up an students' guidance centre at its campus.

The honorary convenor and Adviser of the counseling and Guidance centre of the Career Planning department Siraj Khilji said that "the guidance and counseling of aspirants is an important part of the educational mission of the university."

He also said that guidance and counseling services programmes promote the personal and social educational, which assist in career development of aspirants.

As per his given statement the focus of career counseling is mainly on issues, like career exploration, career change, personal career development as well as the issues relevant to career.

"It supports the persons in understanding their conditions and solving them," he said. The main functions of the department are to discover career choices and guide the aspirants broadening their horizon to select the field of their work.

It will also assist the aspirants in writing cover letter techniques, resume writing as well as prepare them to perform well in interviews, he added.

The centre will furthermore assist the aspirants in professional development by providing personalized counseling to all graduates as well as advising them to improve their abilities by doing additional training and short courses, which will improve their employability, he said.
