Lahore: Almost 56,272 candidates (36,542 women and 19,730 men) were appeared in the medical and dental colleges’ entrance test on Sunday (August 28th).

The medical test was conducted under tight security arrangements at 27 centres established in 13 cities by the University of Health Sciences (UHS).

The test started at 9:00am however, the test takers had started arriving at the centres as early as 6:00am.

University of Health Sciences has deputed approximately 5,000 officials to perform inspection and supervision duties.

Police and Rescue 1122 teams were positioned at the centres to deal with any mishap. CCTV cameras, cell phone signal jammers and walk-through gates were installed at the test centres to ensure foolproof security.

The arrangements were also made for test takers along with physical disabilities and waiting and parking spaces were elected for those accompanying the test takers.

11,155 women and 5,635 men took part in MCAT test at the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education examination halls, Lawrence Road; PU examination halls, Wahdat Road; Government Comprehensive Girls High School; Government Central Model School, Lower Mall; Govt Postgraduate College for Women, Samanabad; University of Education, Township; and Lahore College for Women University, Jail Road.

Almost 7,204 candidates sat the test in Rawalpindi; 8,097 in Multan; 5,742 in Faisalabad; 3,188 in Gujranwala; 2,649 in Bahawalpur; 2,246 in Sargodha; 2,911 in Sahiwal, 1,546 in Gujrat; 1,948 in Dera Ghazi Khan; 1,813 in Rahim Yar Khan; 1,728 in Sialkot and 410 in Hasan Abdal.

The vice chancellor of university of health sciences said that as compared to last year 10,000 more students had sat the test this year in test.  He said 46,559 students had taken the test last year.

He further said “It shows that the fields of medicine and dentistry were gaining popularity among the young generation.”

The candidates along with an aggregate score of 82% or above in accordance along with the formula formulated by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council will be eligible to apply for admission on open merit seats.

Those students will be required to select a college and submit their application forms between October 3rd and October 15th, 2016.

The forms as well as college prospectus would be available at UHS head office, Lahore; the Nishter Medical College, Multan and the Rawalpindi Medical College, Rawalpindi.

However, the first admission list will be shared with the public on October 28th, 2016.
