Sindh Matric and Inter 2026 Exam Dates Announced: Complete Schedule Released

The Sindh Education Department’s Steering Committee has officially announced the examination dates for Matriculation ( Classes 9th and 10th ) and Intermediate ( Classes 11th and 12th ) for the year 2026 . The announcement, made following a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah , brings clarity and direction for hundreds of thousands of students, parents, and educational institutions preparing for the upcoming academic cycle.

Matric Exams 2026 to Begin March 31, Inter Exams from April 15

According to the finalized schedule, the annual Matriculation examinations will commence on March 31st, 2026, immediately following the Eid holidays. The Intermediate examinations are set to begin on April 15th, 2026 . This staggered schedule allows boards to manage resources effectively and ensures smooth conduct of examinations across all districts of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Mirpurkhas.

The Steering Committee emphasized that all necessary arrangements, including the printing of question papers, deployment of invigilators, and establishment of examination centers, will be completed well before the start date. Strict security measures and monitoring systems will be implemented to prevent malpractice and ensure transparency.

New Academic Session 2026–27 to Start from April 1

The committee also approved the commencement date for the 2026–27 academic session , which will begin on April 1st, 2026 . This decision aligns the academic calendar with the examination schedule and allows schools and colleges to resume classes promptly after the conclusion of examinations.

Educational institutions across Sindh have been advised to complete admission formalities and distribute textbooks before the start of the new session. The Sindh Textbook Board has been directed to ensure timely availability of books, particularly for Classes IX and XI.

Uniform Examination Syllabus Postponed Until 2027

In a significant policy decision, the Steering Committee announced the postponement of the Uniform Examination Syllabus implementation. Originally planned for the 2026 examinations, the revised syllabus will now be applicable only from the 2027 annual examinations for Classes IX and X.

Officials clarified that the postponement was decided after consultations with educationists, subject specialists, and teachers’ associations. The delay provides additional time for textbook revisions, teacher training, and student preparation. For the 2026 examinations, students will continue to study under the existing syllabus, ensuring no disruption to their preparation.

Summer and Winter Vacation Schedule Retained

The Steering Committee maintained the existing summer and winter vacation schedule without any changes. Summer holidays will be observed from June 1 to July 31, 2026 , while winter vacations will remain from December 22 to December 31, 2026 .

This decision brings relief to families and educational institutions who had anticipated possible alterations. Officials noted that while a proposal to revise the winter holidays was discussed, no immediate changes were deemed feasible. Any future revision to the winter vacation schedule will require another meeting, likely to be convened in April 2026.

Minister’s Directive: Transparency and Punctuality

Chairing the meeting, Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah directed all boards and education departments to ensure timely conduct of examinations and error-free result declarations . He emphasized that students should not face any inconvenience due to administrative delays or procedural lapses.

“The government is fully committed to providing a fair, transparent, and student-friendly examination environment. Any negligence in examination duties will be met with strict action,” Shah stated during the meeting.

He also urged students to focus on their studies and avoid relying on unfair means. The minister announced that surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras and mobile phone jammers, would be deployed at sensitive examination centers.

Preparations Underway Across Sindh

Following the announcement, all BISE chairmen have been directed to finalize examination center lists, appoint supervisory staff, and complete printing schedules. Controller examinations have been instructed to ensure foolproof security of question papers and result data.

Parents and teachers have welcomed the early announcement, noting that it reduces anxiety and allows students to plan their studies effectively. The detailed schedule also helps coaching centers and private candidates to align their preparation strategies.

Looking Ahead: 2027 and Beyond

With the Uniform Examination Syllabus now deferred to 2027, the Sindh Education Department is expected to focus on capacity building, textbook revisions, and stakeholder consultations over the coming year. The 2026 examinations will serve as a bridge between the current and future academic frameworks.

As the countdown begins for the 2026 board exams, students across Sindh are urged to utilize the remaining time productively. The official notification has been uploaded on the websites of all BISE boards and the Sindh Education Department for public access.
