The government of Sindh has announced to not close the schools due to an increase in the number of coronavirus cases. It has been said that all the educational activities will be carried out according to the schedule and the schools will remain open. The decision has been taken in the meeting of the Provincial Task Force. The meeting was chaired by CM Sindh and attended by the Sindh Health Department, and other health experts to review the ongoing situation of the pandemic in the province.

Decisions Taken In Meeting

During the meeting, it has been decided that all the educational institutes including the schools, colleges, and universities will remain open as usual. Moreover, all the public and private hospitals will be surveyed for capacity. It is mandatory for all people to wear the mask to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and only vaccinated individuals will be allowed in the markets having the vaccination card records. The minister has also said to intensify immunization campaigns and ensure the implementation of SOPs in the province so that the ongoing Omicron wave can be controlled. According to the reports, the positivity ratio of COVID-19 has reached up to 35% in Karachi and the government has been struggling hard to cope with the current situation by opting for the necessary measures.

IPEMC Meeting

The meeting of the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference will be held next week to decide whether the schools will remain open or not. The meeting will be attended by the Federal Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood along with the education ministers of other provinces. However, the Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas has issued the statement and said that schools will remain open as the students have been already facing disruption in the academic activities due to COVID-19.
