Lahore: On Wednesday, a division bench of the Lahore High Court reserved the judgment on a petition challenging the policy of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore that restrict the aspirants of less than 12 years to get them registered for class 9th and afterwards appear in the exams of the same standard.

Large number of aspirants had moved the petition. The advocate for petitioners Sheraz Zaka submitted that the education was the main right under Article 25 of the constitution however unluckily; the BISE had made the rules that restrict children of less than 12 years of age to get admission to the 9th class.

He added that the aspirants who were less than the age of 12 years were being depressed of the main right, because the board was not permitting them to appear in the annual exams of 9th class.

He also submitted there was no policy of age restriction for the aspirants of 'O' and 'A' levels. He also added that the restriction was unjust and it is also the violation of constitution.

He requested the court to announce the age restriction policy mentioned in The Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act, 1976 ultra vires, as it invades the major rights.
