According to the issued press release, The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on Thursday in its meeting discussed the reopening of all educational institutes across the state, following the major declining rate in the coronavirus pandemic cases.

The major objective behind this meeting was to take all the shareholders on the board and to discuss the reopening of educational institutes in the country and reach consensus-based results for the opening of the institutions from the school to university level.

Partakers of NCOC Meeting 

As per the issued press release, the meeting was attended by the representatives of educational institutions including government, private and seminaries. All the provincial, Azad Jammu and Kahsmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan main representatives joined the meeting through video source. 

Discussion Held In Meeting

The partakers of the meeting were explained about the current Corona situation at the international and regional levels and also regarding the Covid curve of Pakistan. They were also informed regarding the risks and challenges that can be faced after the opening of educational institutions because it involved the children of all ages. These challenges were plotted after frenetic and lengthy discussions along with the international professionals, academia and think tanks, specifically those working on educational sector opening.

In the meeting, Federal Education Minister, Sahfqat Mehmood said that “The basic challenge to open educational institutes is two zones: what are pointers for opening and what precautionary steps are taken to guarantee the implementation of that health guidelines, safeguarding use of face mask, social distancing as well as hygiene actions.

Final Decision Regarding Reopening Of Institutes To be Taken On September 7th

The NCOC was learnt that the final decision regarding these issues of reopening institutes will be taken on September 7th after accord and inputs from all participants. It was also highlighted that educational institutions must make sure all the Covid-19 protocols and prepare accordingly before the final judgment.

NCOC Recommendation Regarding Reopening of Institutes 

The NCOC recommended a plan to the participants regarding the gradual opening of the institutions based on the best practices and input from the different professionals. It was suggested that educational institutes will be opened on a top-to-bottom approach university, college, high schools etc, on rotational base.
