Lahore: There was a low attendance of students observed at the schools that opened after the Eid holidays on Thursday.

A teacher of government sector school, Liaquat Ali said that “Teachers’ attendance on Thursday was almost 90%. However, just 25% student showed up at my school.”

Most private sector schools, colleges as well as universities did not open on Thursday; the government had announced Eid holidays till Wednesday. The president of All Pakistan Private Schools’ Federation (APPSF) Kashif Mirza had announced in a statement that member schools of APPSF will remain closed on September 15.

The statement moreover read that, “All Pakistan Private Schools’ Federation announces that member schools all over Pakistan will remain closed till September 15th, 2016 in account of Eid-ul-Adha and will reopen on September 16th, 2016.”

Moreover, the University of the Punjab has also extended the break. It will remain closed till September 16th, 2016. The management of university announced that the extra holidays (on September 15th and 16th) will be adjusted against other holidays as needed.

Other government sector universities crosswise the province opened on Thursday however witnessed low attendance.

A representative for the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) told the media sources that just a small number of aspirants had showed up on Thursday.
