The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has officially issued an important update regarding the schedule of the CSS 2027 MPT (MCQ-Based Preliminary Test). In a public notice released on August 19, 2026, the commission announced that the preliminary screening test for the CSS Competitive Examination 2027 has been postponed from its original calendar slot and will now take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
Previously, the CSS 2027 MPT date was set for Sunday, September 27, 2026. According to the official notification, the modification was necessitated by administrative considerations and the announcement of a public protest scheduled for the previously planned date, ensuring that candidates can travel and appear for the exam securely and without disruptions.
Previous Exam Date: Sunday, September 27, 2026
New Revised Date: Saturday, October 10, 2026
Conducting Body: Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC)
Exam Type: MCQ-Based Preliminary Test (MPT) for CSS CE-2027
Reason for Change: Administrative adjustments following a protest announcement on the former date
Terms and Conditions: All prior guidelines, criteria, and syllabus outlines remain completely unchanged.
The announcement grants prospective civil servants an additional two weeks of preparation time. With the CSS MPT exam date pushed back to October 10, 2026, candidates have a brief window to polish their weak areas.
The MCQ-Based Preliminary Test (MPT) serves as a mandatory filtering mechanism introduced by the FPSC. Clearing this 200-mark objective exam is compulsory for any candidate wishing to sit for the main descriptive written portion of the CSS examination. The test encompasses multiple disciplines, including English language skills, General Abilities, General Knowledge, Islamic Studies, and Urdu. Securing a minimum qualifying score of 33% (66 out of 200 marks) is required to pass the screening stage.
Unchanged Rules: The FPSC has clarified that the shift in date is purely logistical. All conditions regarding eligibility, academic credentials (Bachelor’s degree with second division), and age brackets (21 to 30 years with applicable relaxations) continue to be governed strictly by the established CSS rules.
Test Centers: The examination will proceed across designated test cities nationwide as originally planned, and candidates are advised to keep track of their Admission Certificates, which will be uploaded to the official FPSC portal ahead of the new October date.
No Impact on Candidature: Aspirants who completed their registration procedures prior to the deadlines can use this extension to double-down on current affairs, analytical reasoning, and past papers.
Candidates are strongly advised to rely solely on updates published via the official FPSC website and avoid unverified rumors circulating on social media platforms.
