Lahore: The district government Lahore today announced a local holiday on Friday (tomorrow) on the evening of annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh’s (RA).
The 3 days celebration celebrations of the 974th Urs of Hazrat Usman Ali Hajveri commonly known as Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh, started on Wednesday.
As per the issued notification, all the offices as well as the educational institute of district level will remain closed. This holiday will not be applicable on Civil Secretariat employees as well as its relevant staff.
A public holiday would be observed as well in Lahore High Court (LHC) as well as the lower courts of provincial capital.
At the same time, the followers have started battering in large numbers at the shrine of one of the greatest Sufis of sub-continent.
The followers also danced to the beats of drum as well as they are paying their respects with full zeal and zest.
Furthermore, heavy security arrangements have also been made for the 3-day Urs celebrations that will be ended on November 11th, 2017.
The Provincial Minister for Auqaf Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri starts the urs celebrations by laying a traditional chaddar at the tomb of Data Sahib. The Auqaf Department had allotted ten million Rupees for organizing the urs celebrations.
