Charsadda: Bacha Khan University (BKU) Teachers Association continued their strike on the third consecutive day on Wednesday in Charsadda against the vice chancellor of university, blaming him for corruption.

This strike was led by Teachers Association President of Bacha Khan University Dr Shakeel Ahmad. The protesting teachers have blamed Vice Chancellor of BKU Professor Dr Fazalur Rahim Marwat for corrupt practices as well as for appointing people of the main administrative posts on the basis of favoritism rather than merit.

They said that their their colleagues were suspended by the vice chancellor as they were the partakers of the strike.

The teachers have boycotted their classes and were shouting slogans against the VC, registrar as well as the other staff at the gate of varsity. They demanded the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take action against those who were involved in illegal appointments.

He said that discussions were under way along with the members of the teachers association; however those who were not satisfied could approach the HEC over the corruption or misuse of power case, rather than going on a strike.

Regarding appointments, the representative said they were made on the basis of merit.
