The unfortunate incident took place at Punjab University’s Campus, when a man named Awais Rind went to pick up his wife from university. His wife is an M Phil student of Punjab University. Awais was having lunch with his wife at University’s cafeteria when the IJT members arrived and started to beat him harshly. Awais Rind who is a producer at local news Channel tried to speak but the IJT members paid no heed to him and his wife shouting to leave him alone as he is her husband.

The Punjab University administration has put all the blame on University’s guard named Javed, a student of Islamic department named Mazhar and a student of Geology department named Usman Anwar. The University has issued show cause notice to the mentioned students and security guard. The Governor of Punjab Chaudhary Sarwar took notice of the incident and asked the VC of Punjab University Prof Niaz Ahmed to present report of this incident to his office.

The initial report issued to the media by administration of Punjab University States, “This female student of Punjab University belongs to gender studies department, and she was having lunch in political studies department cafeteria with her Husband, they were talking loudly, upon which a guard deployed in civilian clothes asked them to not do this hear, on which they got annoyed. This annoyance resulted in two more students getting involved by supporting the guard and this led to fight and beating.”

The IJT members have denied any relation with this matter, and further said that they were just trying to resolve the matter when someone recorded the video with intention of destroying the reputation of IJT by propagating them. The video of the incident got viral and received a media and public attention in wide scale.

Another student of Punjab University has emerged to report against the terror IJT is inducing in Punjab University. A student named Zeeshan told geo news about an incident involving him an IJT member and fellow student Aslam Ranjha. Zeeshan told he and Ranjha got into a verbal argument prior to which, “Ranjha subjected me to torture after calling his friends. The incident occurred two weeks ago.”

The registrar of Punjab University stated regarding the incident of Zeeshan,” “If it is the same student then a case will be registered against him as an expelled student cannot enter the premises.” And Punjab University Professor Khalid Khan stated that he has no knowledge of occurrence of any such event.

Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Pakistan was founded by 25 students on December 1947. It is regarded as most well organized and largest student’s organization functioning in Pakistan. The IJT is mostly inspired by the works of late Syed Abul-Ala Maududi and Maulana Naeem Siddiqui. Its head quarter is in Lahore. Islami Jamiat Talaba's purpose is "To build the lives of human beings on the exact parameters of Allah's orders and teachings of Muhammad to seek absolute obedience of Allah." The IJT has been subjected of many controversies over the years, it is recognized as conservative Islamic organization and it has strong hold on student activities of Universities and Colleges all around Lahore especially in Punjab University. The IJT members are notorious for their post-haste aggression
