Lahore: 125th Convocation of University of the Punjab was organized on Monday at the Punjab University New Campus in which medals and degrees were awarded to 1,454 students.

Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani was the chief guest of the ceremony.

The chairperson of Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr Nizamuddin, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, Examination Controller Shahid Munir, faculty members, students as well as their parents were also present in the ceremony.

Gold medals were awarded to 174 students who outperformed in their exams. At the ceremony, students of various disciplines who completed their studies in the BA, BSc, MA, MSc, MS, MPhil and PhD were conferred degrees.

Almost 26 PhD, 738 MPhil/MS, 238 masters and 178 undergraduate degrees and 174 medals were distributed among the aspirants in convocation. Approximately 80 medals were presented to the undergraduate students, whereas 94 medals were distributed among master's students. Total 1454 degrees, medals and prizes were distributed among the aspirants in the convocation.

The convocation attracted special attention of all the participants as Ms Park Kyo Soun, A Korean student, obtained her PhD degree in history, whereas an Iranian student got her PhD degree in biological sciences.

Particularly, a blind student, Muhammad Ahmad, got gold medal in his master's degree in Pakistan studies.
