The University of Larkano (informally known as Larkana University or UoLrk) stands as a transformative milestone in the higher education landscape of Upper Sindh, Pakistan. Established as a public research university through an official legislative act passed by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, the institution officially commenced its journey to foster academic excellence, innovation, and socio-economic development in the region. Spanning a vast and beautifully planned campus, the university was strategically created by merging and upgrading several prominent existing educational institutions in Larkana. This consolidation brought together diverse academic strengths under a single unified banner, positioning UoLrk as a comprehensive hub for multi-disciplinary learning.

The academic structure of the University of Larkano is designed to cater to the evolving technical and socio-economic demands of the modern workforce. The institution operates through three core foundational faculties, each specializing in critical sectors of development. The Faculty of Engineering—formed from the erstwhile Larkana campus of the Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUEST)—provides high-quality, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) aligned undergraduate programs. Students can pursue specialized Bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics Engineering, utilizing modern laboratories and hands-on training methodologies.

Complementing its technical wing, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (formerly the Larkana campus of the University of Sindh) offers robust educational pathways in Business Administration, Computer Science, and English Language and Literature. This faculty focuses on building critical thinking, communication, and digital literacy skills essential for today’s global corporate environment. Recognizing the deep agricultural roots of the Sindh province, the university also boasts the Faculty of Agriculture, restructured from the historic Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Agricultural College in Dokri. This specialized wing offers a comprehensive Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, allowing students to specialize in crucial sub-disciplines such as Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, and Plant Protection.
