The project included development of 50 acres of land already provided to the University by the Government of Punjab. Now the Govt. of Punjab has allotted 77acres of more land to University College of Agriculture in the year 2009 to enhance the student research in agriculture. The plan is based on the noble concept that education, research and employment must be strongly and permanently linked with each other.
University College of Agriculture comprises of the Departments of Horticulture, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Soil and Environmental Sciences, Agri. Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics and Marketing, Animal Science, Forestry and Agricultural Extension which offers 4-years B. Sc (Hons) Agriculture, B. Sc (Hons) Animal Sciences, M. Sc (Hons) in Entomology, Horticulture, Plant Breeding and Genetics and Soil & Environmental Sciences while Ph.D. in Entomology, Soil and Environmental Sciences and Plant Breeding and Genetics at present. The degree of B. Sc (Hons) Animal Science has also been recently started in which 54 students were admitted in fall semester 2010. Moreover, short courses in plant protection, computer application in agriculture, bee keeping, household pest management, poultry production, dairy farming, animal nutrition, animal diseases and human resource development are planned to commence in near future. Wheat sowing campaign, Kissan Mela, Harvesting ceremony, National wheat conferences, Annual Sports Gala, Annual dinner, student debates competitions, internship programs and study tours are some prominent stories of the college.
