On April 7, 1973, Sindh Medical College initiated operations in Karachi and developed into an established medical facility. The teaching establishment began operations in the pediatric facilities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for 200 MBBS students in the first cohort. The institution built additional academic programs and facilities throughout many years. The college transitioned to become Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) after receiving its university upgrade during June 2012. Currently JSMU operates several institutes and affiliated colleges which provide Pakistan with quality medical education and research possibilities.

Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) delivers numerous medical and health science undergraduate programs and postgraduate degrees to students.
