Sheikh Zayed Islamic Center (SZIC), Karachi

Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre was founded by the two governments of Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The center was launched with the purpose of uniting Islamic Studies with modern studies while stressing understanding Islamic teachings to empower students competency in modern Islamic fields such as computer technology and Islamic finance. SZIC strives to produce a generation endowed with Islamic knowledge and capable of facing modern day challenges from a learned perspective.

Academic Programs Offered

Szic offers a variety of programs combining traditional Islamic schooling and modern disciplines. BS in Islamic Studies with Computer Technology is an Islamic studies and computer science program through which students live by Islamic principles in the digital world. Another key undergraduate program is BS in Islamic Banking and Finance, as it prepares students for a rise in demand in field-based careers of Shariah compliant financial services.

For postgraduate students, SZIC has opened the door to M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Islamic Studies with Computer Technology and Islamic Banking and Finance, these being research and advanced knowledge based courses. In addition, the institute also has specialized certificate courses such as Sharia Audit and Compliance, Islamic Takaful, and Arabic Language for professionals wishing specialization in these domains.

Facilities & Activities

The institute features a targeted campus along with modern infrastructure to suit academic and extra-curricular needs. This school has spacious classrooms, a well-stocked library and a well equiped computer lab. Seminar rooms and an auditorium are also available for conferences and academic discussions at the center. There is a mosque for offering prayers and religious gatherings. The Campus also provides an ambient setting for study and learning with lush green lawns in and around the campus regulation as well as cultural and educational activities.
