University of Management and Technology's mission is to "evolve" by "actualizing strategic partnerships with stakeholders, harnessing leadership, generating useful knowledge, fostering enduring values, and projecting sustainable technologies and practices." Training students in legal and policy analysis is fundamental to each of these goals.

Also, keeping in view the current state of legal and policy studies in the country, there is a dire need for institutions and programs that introduce the students to latest approaches and discourses in these fields and, consequently, enable them to develop their own expertise and become competent academics and professionals. School of Law and Policy has been set up in order to address all these issues and it will offer undergraduate and graduate programs in law and policy beginning in the summer of 2012.
