The Pakistan Naval Academy is a well-known federal military academy of Pakistan. Pakistan Naval Academy is also known as Pakistan Naval Station Rahbar (PNS Rahbar). PNS Rahbar is located in Manora Island, in Sindh Province. PNS Rahbar was basically established in Manora, under the supervision of Vice-Admiral Syed Mohammad Ahsan. PNS Rahbar is actually one of the most advanced military training academies in Pakistan, this academy is advance is technology and up to date on latest courses and degree programs. An interesting thing about this academy is that its functions are same as United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.


History:

The actual training of Navy was started in 1960 because the navy academy was established in 1960 on board of PNS BABUR. After 1970 it was seen that they need more space to train more people, so it was needed to develop a separate training center to train more individuals and increase resources. So in December 1970, Pakistan Naval Academy was commissioned as PNS RAHBAR at Manora. Since then the academy is providing training requirements of the Pakistan Navy and other Muslim countries, like Saudia Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Palestine, Bahrain, Turkmenistan, Lebanon, Iran, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, and Ghana. Till then now around 1912 officers of friendly countries have been trained in this academy. PNS is proven to be a good academy with up to date technology and knowledge of upcoming technology trends.

The PNS got its status degree awarding institute in 1965 after that BSc degree was started to be given officially to the candidates of PNS.

Pakistan Naval Academy is basically a strong force which managed by professional and motivated staff, the staff is working very hard to provide the good environment to train their students.

In 1990, Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto signed an executive degree program of Bachelor Science Degree for the Naval students or trainees. The university was first affiliated with the Karachi University for Science degree of PNS. This status of degree was continued till 1997, after that when Premier Nawaz Sharif had awarded the Naval Academy as a full working institution. So after this, the university started offering more bachelors program for students, like they started Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Business Administration. The programs they offer are:

Mission:

“To convey ethical, specialized, instructive and physical training to the trainees that infuse them with the uppermost ideals of honesty, duty, bravery, and honor in order to create a sound base to become a skillful naval officer.

The Academy is trying their best to provide a good training program and good environment. They have very good laboratories where a student works and get to work on latest technology. The main laboratories for training of students are as follows

  • Physics Laboratory
  • Chemistry Laboratory
  • Electrical Engineering Laboratory
  • Computer Laboratory
  • Language Laboratory
  • Marine Engineering Display center

All these laboratories are well furnished with new technology. They have the best faculty who guide and train their students so that they can learn all the things related to their subjects or fields.

They have very good library center where almost 12000 books are available where students can read books related to their field or subjects. All newly updated books are also available any student can go and read books. They also have internet facility; the academy provides their own net from ISP. All the students can get internet facility. They have a proper computer lab where the number of computers is available where they can read and learn more and more about the latest technology and get guidelines about their subjects and what is going on in this world.
