Pakistan Institute of Development Economics

The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics was established in 1957 in Karachi. In 1964 the Government of Pakistan gave the status of an independent research institute to the university. The institute is situated in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad at the campus of Quaid-e- Azam University. The campus is located at the back of the Margalla Hills within a very short distance of the Taxila. The university is dedicated in theoretical and practical research in Development Economics and Pakistan-related economic issues. The university has also contributed in providing the opportunity to the outside world to see the situation of the economic research in Pakistan.

The university has earned the status of international research institute. In November 2006, PIDE gained the status of the degree awarding institute. The top priority of the institute is to provide affordable quality education of international standard in a truly motivating learning atmosphere.
