Jinnah University for Women is a highly ranked and well reputed private research university situated in the largest city of Pakistan: Karachi. The foundations of the university were laid down in the 1998 by Al-Haj Moulvi Reyazuddin Ahmed (T.I).The University is one of the many educational projects which runs under the portfolio of Ajman-e-Islam Trust (which was also established by Al-Haj Moulvi Reyazuddin.) This University was established with the aim of providing a separate higher education institution for the females. All matters pertaining to finance and funds are managed by the Anjum-e-Islam Trust.
The institute was originally designed to be a post-graduate college for women. However under the Sindh Assembly Act (1988), the college was upgraded to the status of a full-fledge university. The Jinnah University is approved by the Higher Education Commission to award undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctoral level degrees in a diverse range of fields such as natural sciences, arts, humanities and general studies.
Since 2010, The Jinnah University has been placed among the highly ranked and top universities (general category) by the Higher Education Commission.
