Ilma University (IBT-Biztek) was established as an effort to promote tertiary education in Pakistan .The limited resources of Government bodies has allowed private sectors to open higher education institutions at various destinations in the country so that the students who want to seek approachable degree level education get facilitated.
Ilma University located at Korangi Creek, Karachi, is providing education with outstanding facilities and the widest range of courses. The university renders undergraduate, graduate and post graduate programs in diverse fields like computer science, management etc. To assist students in choosing their fields of interest, Ilma University has recently introduced Media sciences and fashion designing programs at the campus where these courses are taught according to the current market prospective. Likewise, Ilma University has also introduced PhD degree programs in Management Sciences and Computing.
Ilma University has been ranked at the highest 6 star ranking and is placed in the `W` category institution by the Government of Sindh and the Higher Education Commission. Ilma University believes in exploring infinite career prospects, therefore it has built strong links with the industrial sectors and public services; moreover, the research conducted at the institution has open wide doors for the pass outs to chase the emerging global opportunities.
Ilma University was formerly known as Institute of Business and Technology (in short BIZTEK). Established in 2001 by the Global Education Consultants Society (GEC), the real purpose of the institution is to promote higher education that will effectively assists in Pakistani socio-economic progress. In 2004, The Act of Assembly, Government of Sindh has given IBT, a degree -awarding status with the approval of the Higher Education Commission. After the approval, IBT commenced its under-graduate and graduate programs in the faculties of Management & Social Sciences, Computer Science & Information Technology, and Media Sciences. The decade long history of serving the academic and business communities helps IBT to set deep-rooted reputation in providing international level education on tertiary level. On 17th May 2019, IBT charter was upgraded into the charter of a University by the Sindh Assembly through Ilma University Act of 2016 passed as ACT XIX of 2019.
Infrastructure and Facilities:
With handful financial resources, Ilma University is determined to expand its infrastructure to cater the growing number of enrolled students. The Provincial Minister of Education of Sindh Dr. Hameeda Khoro inaugurated the east wing and Mr. Shaukat Aziz; the then Prime Minister of Pakistan laid foundation of the west wing building in 2006.Today the university is providing all state-of the art infrastructure facilities to their students. The library is stocked with a wide collection of reading material; and is equipped with current online amenities. The university housed a modern research center, air-conditioned classrooms, sports grounds and courts, well equipped auditorium and up-to-date multimedia teaching aids. Other amenities and facilities include uninterrupted Wi-Fi facility, interactive learning system and the most prominent: highly qualified and experienced faculty.
