Health Services Academy (HSA) was originally established in 1988 as an in-service training institute under the Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan. It later evolved into an academic institution through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ). The first batch of students graduated in 1996, and eight cohorts have completed the program. The Academy is now well-established and well on its way to achieving its institutional objectives.
Health Services Academy in Islamabad assumes a central position in lifting the healthcare sector of Pakistan by means of its academic opportunities, research ensues, and general wellness efforts. The resoluteness and innovation of HSA to be a forerunner in the realm of knowledge and competence in health sciences leads it to remain a standard.
HSA has a variety of academic discipline-oriented retention programs that fulfill the specific needs of the professionals involved in healthcare. It offers both undergraduate programs (Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (BSMLT), and also postgraduate ones (Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) and Master of Health Administration (MHA)). The community college also has a diploma programs for the individualized specialized areas of healthcare. Thus, comprehensive education and specialized training for the aspirants is assured.
Through research, HSA performs various kinds of work to find out the root causes of the significant public health problems existing in Pakistan. By teaming up with national and international groups, HSA carries out market researches, defines suitable policies, and develops health programs that help to make the health care system better and inform public awareness about health. Instruction by the institute in fields like Disease Prevention, Health Promotion, and Healthcare Management have been of great use and have brought about an appreciable change in the health sector of Pakistan.
