Habib University offers innovation in learning strategies via interactive learning environment. Qualified Ph.D. faculty and the most effective pre-set student/faculty ratio of 12:1, has introduced a novel way of acquiring education. The university has an affiliation with Texas A&M University at Qatar and is collaborating with Carnegie Mellon University, United States for exchange of institutional experience and has developed a partnership agreement for the association.
The institution has healthy contacts with Harvey Mudd College and Pitzer College in Claremont, California, Stanford University, including the Hasso Platnner Institute for Design and the International Honors Program, the University of Michigan Center for South Asian Studies.
In 2010, Habib University Foundation (a not-for-profit organization) was established by the House of Habib. Funding of US$40 million assists this establishment. The construction in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi began in 2012 for Habib university campus. The charter for establishment was passed by Sindh Assembly in June 2012. Wasif Rizvi (M.Ed, Harvard) is the founding President of the university. The first batch of undergraduate students started their studies in August 2014. Later, HU Talent Outreach Program (TOPS) was launched in 2016 providing a tuition fee waiver for selected students to complete their four-year undergraduate program.
Habib University possesses a unique infrastructure; the campus covers 6.3 acres of land, featuring a modern state-of-the-art institution. Habib University will soon expand to a larger residential campus on the outskirts of Karachi. The campus design won the Merit Award for Excellence in Planning for New Campus from the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) in 2010. The wide open spaces display vibrant hues, glossy textures and ultimate show of brightness. Surrounded by lush-green acreages, the campus entails a spacious library covering an area of 21,000 square feet and is a semi-public space dedicated for the provision of information, lounges, and discussion rooms. Habib University possesses 3 lecture halls, a wide and ventilated auditorium and an amphitheater. The campus houses a student center and student lounge, and a number of classrooms and laboratories.
