In the name of Allah almighty, the kind, the merciful. It is an old foundation founded as normal school in 1918 for the training of primary School Teacher. The main block of building was completed in 1921 and the classes were shifted from Gujranwala city to this campus in the suburbs of a small town named Gawker (District Gujranwala). Since that date the institute has been preparing /training and producing competent teacher of all categories allotted to it.

Since after the birth of this Islamic Homeland, Pakistan, new aspects of education were brought to the font and certain goals were determined. To achieve the goals of teaching and learning and to up – lift standard of education. As a result, in 95 S.V. (Senior Vernacular) Class was introduced in this training institute. It the status of the organization . It therefore became the only teacher training institute that supplied S.V teacher to the whole Punjab.

In order to prepare Oriental Teacher (O.T) admission to college was allowed in 1956 so that oriental language (Urdu, Arabic, Persian, etc.) may be kept alive.

The whole region was still lacking services of C.T (Certificate if Teaching) teachers; then the Government allowed to train teacher better qualified for (6th, 7th & 8th) classes, especially in middle/ Elementary schools in the Punjab. In 1962 when the institute was designated” Govt. Training Institute ”to meet the need of drawing teachers in Secondary and Elementary Schools, Arts and Crafts class was made possible to start . Since the region is agricultural area, to bring awareness of new development in the field, it was realized that the students must have knowledge and techniques of agriculture as profession. Later S.V. (Agriculture) was replaced by C.T (Agriculture). A few years ago P.T.C. was trained for primary classes.

In 1974 the teachers training institute was named Govt. College for Elementary Teachers and head of the institution was designated” Principal” in grade 18. In 2002 after the establishment of University of Education this college becomes a part of the University and it was named as University of Education.

Under the University of Education, a degree program me of B.ED for both male and female students was started in 2002-2003 where as in 2004-05 a degree program me, M.Ed., was launched. Owing to certain reasons the government has owned the college on June 22, 2005 with B.Ed. & M.Ed. Programmers. Govt. has launched the B.Sc., B.Ed. Program me in this college in 2009-12. Now recently under graduate diploma of Education, Associate Degree in Education & B.Ed. (Secondary Education) has been introduced in the session 2002-13.In session 203-14 B.Ed. (hones) 4 years program is launched in this college.
