OVEVRIEW:

Benazir Bhutto was the first Muslim Female Prime Minister belonging to Pakistan. She was Qualified from Oxford University U.K .She always strived to disperse literacy among her nation .Unfortunately, she was assassinated in 2007.She had several plans to uplift the financial status of Pakistani youth especially from unprivileged areas of Sindh. To honor her dedication towards education as well as to endure public interest, the mandate of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program [BBSYDP], initiated in 2008-09 by Government of Sindh was passed on to promote employable skill sets that will increase work opportunities for them.

Furthermore, the provision of technical education to Pakistani youth will increase in number of skillful youth that would in turn increase per capita income, thus economy of province would be consequently enriched.

In the light of such considerations several Benazir Bhutto Shaheed institutions have been setup across the nation and BBS University of Technology & Skill Development, Khairpur is one of such scholastic step in empowering youth of Pakistan.

The university was established be merging two existing technical institutes: Government College of Technology, Khairpur and Petroleum Technical Training Institute, Khairpur. This amalgamation was carried out to establish a degree awarding institute which would be a place of education, learning, training and research, functioning as teaching, affiliating and examining body. The university was built with an aim to advance and disperse knowledge of technical, engineering, vocational, science management, professional education and such other allied subjects as well as to conduct research programs in the mentioned fields. Prof. Engr. Dr. Madad Ali Shah has taken the charge as Vice Chancellor of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skill Development, Khairpur.

Moreover, the purpose of setting-up this university is to organize financial aid programs for students in need, and to enable admission and access to the University to be strictly on merit rather than ability to pay. The University however, may introduce self-finance schemes not covering more than twenty five percent of the total number of candidates in any on campus taught course or research-based programme of study.

HISTORY:

The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development is a Government funded university with policies all in accordance with the HEC recognition parameters. The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development Bill was passed by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh on 22ndApril, 2016.

Government College of Technology, Khairpur and Petroleum Technical Training Institute, Khairpur, are merged together under one administration to lay the foundation of BBS University of Technology & Skill Development, Khairpur therefore all the properties, accessories, premises and staff from both institutes is now serving under the university authorities.

Infrastructure:

As two institutes are combined to shape –up a University, therefore, all those amenities that were a part of these institutes are now included in the university infrastructure as well as teaching Departments, museums and other centers of learning for the development of teaching and research are well-maintained and residence of the students of the University and the colleges, institute are set-up as halls of residence and other specified place as hostel or lodging of students are authorized.
