The Legislative Assembly of Azad Kashmir enforced the act number XXVIII, under which the
Al-Khair University was established in 1994. AL-Khair is a Private University which was previously recognized by the Higher Education Commission. (Status in doubt after ban fall 2016)
It is a very significant contribution to the private sector. It was built with the aim of supplementing Public sector Education. Another plus point to the university is that it university is a dedicated member of the Common Wealth Association of Universities.
This renowned and established university has branches all over Pakistan. The main campus of the university lies in Bhimber (Azad & Jammu Kashmir).While there are sub-campuses located in Karachi, Peshawar, Islamabad and Gujranwala.
The primary objective of the university is to provide supplemented and improved education in the public sector. Disseminating holistic and illustrious education in various fields is one of the top agendas of the university.
