Admissions in MS & Ph.D. Programs – Spring 2026

All MS and Ph.D. programs are recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

MS Degree Programs

Applications are invited for admission to the MS Degree Programs in the following disciplines:

Chemistry
Zoology
Biotechnology
Environmental Sciences
Biochemistry
Mathematics
Botany
Education
Islamic Studies
English Literature
English Linguistics

Eligibility Criteria for MS Program

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

Sixteen (16) years of education or a 4-year BS degree (minimum 120 credit hours) or equivalent Master’s degree in the relevant/related field from a recognized university/institution.
Minimum 50% marks in the annual system or CGPA 2.5 out of 4.0 in the semester system.
Valid GAT (General) / GRE / HAT / University Admission Test with a minimum 50% score (mandatory pre-requisite for admission).

Ph.D. Degree Programs

Ph.D. admissions are offered in accordance with the HEC Graduate Education Policy 2023 in the following departments:

Chemistry
Zoology
Biotechnology
Biochemistry
Environmental Sciences

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Program

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

Eighteen (18) years of education with an HEC-recognized MS/M.Phil. or equivalent degree (minimum 30 credit hours) in the relevant field.
Minimum 60% marks (Annual System) or CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0 (Semester System) as per HEC rules.
Valid GAT (Subject) / GRE / HAT / University Admission Test with a minimum 60% score.

Statement of Purpose (SOP) Requirement

Ph.D. applicants must submit a 2-page Statement of Purpose (SOP)/Research Proposal, including:

Introduction (Academic & Research Background)
Title of Potential Research Proposal
Current Specialization and Research Interests
Purpose of Pursuing Doctoral Studies and Research Potential
Significance of the Study

General Conditions

MS and Ph.D. programs are open to all candidates meeting the admission criteria.
Government employees must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) with the application form.
Government employees must provide a study leave document (2 years for MS, 4 years for Ph.D.) at the time of registration.
All admitted candidates will be full-time regular students.
Applications must be submitted online only through the official website:

After successful online submission, applicants must download and print the form and submit it along with:
- Processing fee receipt
- Attested copies of required documents
  to the Graduate Studies Office (GSO), SBKWU, Quetta.

Application Processing Fee (Non-Refundable)

Rs. 3,000/- for MS
Rs. 4,000/- for Ph.D.
