AIOU is a Distance Education institution, which offers programs from basic to doctoral level programs. The university announces Teacher Education Programs i.e. B.Ed. once in a year. Study period for each semester generally lasts 18 weeks, plus Two weeks for preparation for examination.

A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is an undergraduate degree program consists of three semesters which prepares students for work as a teacher in schools, and now it is an additional work must be done in order to be fully qualified to teach. The B.Ed. program can be done after graduation or master level.

The main purpose of B.Ed is to transfer quality of education to train prospective teachers so that they can make significant contributions towards the betterment of society and instruct the different teaching methods for teaching of natural sciences General Science and Computer motivational techniques, at secondary level.
