Karachi: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) on Monday announced that it will boycott the procedure of checking exams papers of the first year inter annual exams.

This decision was taken after the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) authorities called many teachers for questioning few days back and allegedly mortified them. The teachers a swell as professors have been pressurized to record the statements, complained SPLA members.

The head of SPLA Karachi Ferozuddin Ahmed Siddiqui at a press conference on Monday said that “It is decided that we will not check the answer copies of the first year exams.”

The association furthermore announced that it will not take part in any activities of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) because the raid on the board office has raised a lot of questions.

While talking to the media sources, Siddiqui said the ACE has been calling all head examiners, deputy head examiners as well as co-examiners to their offices and ‘humiliating’ them.

“It is sad that the teachers of grades 18-20 are being treated in this way. That is the reason we have decided to boycott the checking procedure,” he added, adding that the procedure of questioning the teachers can be done in the BIEK offices instead of treating them like criminals.

In the meantime, the BIEK controller examinations Imran Khan Chishti said that he will talk to the SPLA representatives and resolve this matter at the earliest. “We cannot afford the results to be delayed as the second year results were also delayed because of these raids,” he added.
