Lahore: The university teachers across Pakistan have announced to hold protest at national level against the non-reinstatement of 75 percent rebate in income tax for teachers.

Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) issued a press statement of Thursday which said since the government has not entertained the demand of reinstatement of 75 percent rebate in income tax for teachers in the present budget, FAPUASA will decide next course of action to launch the protest campaign at national level against the government after Eid-ul-Fitr.

FAPUASA General Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain, Punjab President Dr Sohail Aftab, Punjab University Academic Staff Association Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Government College University ASA President Dr Riaz Ahmed in a combined statement said that there were serious objections and anger among the teachers of universities that the government was not paying attention to their just demand.

They moreover said that income tax rebate had been reduced by the government two years ago by 40 percent, which was not acceptable for the teaching community.
