Punjab University largest Book Fair concludes

Lahore, University of Punjab Lahore had arranged annual Book Fair event. This event was organized for three days and remained continued till 5th April, 2014. It was the largest three-day book fair 2014 of Pakistan which was held from April 03  to 05 (Thursday-Saturday) at the Main Corridor of Institute of Education and Research. There were more than 135 publisher had participated and 167 book stalls were set up. Every year Punjab University organized the Book Fair for students. Large Number of People Participate this book fair. The University of the Punjab was established in 1882 which is the largest and the oldest seat of higher learning in Pakistan. This was the first university established in the sub-continent in Muslim majority area. Two well-known laureates are from this University showed great impact for its academic and research h excellence.

Thousands of book lovers, including students,  engineers, , writers, doctors, lawyers, journalists and people from other walks of life thronged the annual book fair at the Punjab University on second day of the three-day occasion on Friday.

The PU administration claimed that over 100,000 books were sold during three days of the fair.

A large number of children, senior citizens, and special persons were also seen visiting bookstalls on Friday.

Talking to the press while visiting the fair, PU Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran highlighted the importance of knowledge and said that only those nations had become wealthy and developed which were knowledgeable. He said that around 750 versus of the Holy Quran urge human beings to resolve the mysteries of universe and this fact reflected the importance of knowledge in Islam. He said that one of the purposes of holding book fair was to help citizens buy books of all kinds on low-priced prices.
