Peshawar: Education Minister Atif Khan has given the instructions to remove the controversial Kalo Khan lesson from text books of 9th class. The content had generated anger among the Pakhtuns because it tries to portray a Pukhtun hero as a thief.

A representative of education department told media sources that the minister took serious notice of this matter and instructed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa textbook board for immediate steps for the amendment of the historical mistake.

It is also important to mention here that political representatives as well as social activists from Swabi, Mardan and Charsadda have threatened that they would go to the court if the provincial government did not remove this chapter in school textbooks that displays Pukhtun hero Kalu Khan as a thief.

The command maintained that in the course of future such provocative and resentful lessons will not be involved in the learning material of the government as well as the non-government schools of the KPK.

When contacted, Noor-ul-Amin Yousafzai, one of the great opponents of the controversy and a placed source on the history of the Pashtun sets welcomed the move plus said that the education department must carry out the course of the province as per the factual history of the region. He furthermore said that "Kalu Khan was a Yousafzai and chieftain of Pakhtuns during Akbar's period and was not a thief."
